Though we in theory choose our governments (at least in western democracies), we somehow never seem to be able to choose the politic. 
I guess if you made an global popular vote on issues rather than on who should govern.. you'd get something like 90 % want peace and justice, that no one should die from starvation or be without health care, that every kid should be able to get an education. That all should have a fair chance.
But somehow there's always a lot of reasons why this is not possible, the people we elect to achieve this, tells us. First we have to achieve a lot of other goals, before we can have peace we must win a lot of wars, they tell us, and all that is very expensive, so there's not much left for achieving what the majority actually wants.... 
well, I say: It takes more to make peace than winning a war.

Military superiority isn't good national security, it gives the power to win the wars, but as long as we don't have politics building peace, we will be engaged in these endless wars a majority of ordinary folks around the globe do not want.

The fight between good and evil is one we each and one of us have to fight within ourselves, it is not a battle fought with guns and bombs and military actions between good and evil nations, civilized and uncivilized peoples of different faiths..... 
The male dominated rhetoric political leaders use frightens me almost more than evils already done.... as they speak the logic of the terrorists 

Let us find ways to stop this chain of hate.

I plea for a global cooperation on rethinking the whole concept of security.
I think the best way to prevent terrorism in the future is to put more effort into fighting poverty, illiteracy, illness and injustice. That the leaders of the world take the human rights, the liberties and democracy they say to defend serious, not just for the citizens in USA & Europe, but also for the people in Africa, Asia and Latin America. This will deprive the terrorist leaders of excuses for their criminal acts, expose them as the simple criminals they are.

I plea for an international cooperation not just fighting terrorism but also leading to arms reduction and social empowerment. 1/4 of the global military expenditure (accidentally the US share) is enough to solve some of the worst social and ecological problems in the world today.... figure out what's safest for you
